Amita Sachdeva’s art is indeed an infinitely mystical world of creativity, manifesting itself seamlessly over varied art forms - oil paintings, relief work, stained and etched glass work, tanjore paintings, murals, fabric-painting, ceramic and porcelain paintings, metal relief…. resplendent in myriad hues and colours.
Earth-n-Heaven, her signature studio and art-house, is a culmination of her prolific journey which started 20 years back. Even then, as now, she possessed an innate creativity and an acute sense of colours, tones, textures and brush-strokes. It was however her desire to break free from the straitjacket of her initial educational qualification that gave wings to her dream of expressing herself as an all-round artist effortlessly working with as many media as possible. |

| |
Since then, as she has poured her heart out in each of her creations, the medium has become immaterial. It is Amita herself and her affirmation of a vibrant life around which shines through each of her creations. |
| |
It was in 1993 when Amita, a young housewife and a post-graduate diploma holder in Textile Designing, first thought of using her art for commerce. She was sure of her craft and her creative instincts, and felt she should put it to a better use. She set up a small class room in her garage and started teaching fabric painting to the neighbourhood ladies. Soon enough the classes started acquiring a reputation by word of mouth. |
| |
As the next step Amita embarked upon her experimentation spree with various media like porcelain, oil paintings, stained glass etc. She also set thinking about how art could provide a vital design input to architects and interior designers. This led her to exhibit in the renowned Inside Outside Mega Show, which served as a great platform. Her work and creativity was noticed by a number of leading architects and home-designers, who commissioned her work for their use. |
| |
The time was now ripe for her to set up a working space - a studio. It started with a single artist, to assist her. Today, it employs 50 young people. Most of them are young kids off the streets, who would have, in all probability, wasted their lives but for this place called Earth-n-Heaven.. |
| |
Amita has continually experimented and honed her art to perfection in varied media like porcelain art, oil paintings, Tanjore paintings etc. Her forte however lies in intricate relief work paintings made out of stone dust, which has won her the National award. Her studio offers complete art and glass solutions to architects and designers and is an empanelled production house for Central Cottage Industries Corporation. She has participated in a number of exhibitions at The Blind School in New Delhi, Society Interiors and the likes. Her work is also available online through the renowned art portal http://www.novica.com. |
| |
The media has been recognising her efforts in the field of art & community welfare and have been giving detailed coverage to her work and effort in this field. She has been written about in a wide spectrum of publications like The Times of India, Hindu, Tribune and magazines like Femina, Ideal Home Magazine and Grahlakshmi. ETV has recorded and aired six episodes on how to do different art forms where Amita has given the demonstrations. The CNEB channel too had an episode on her and her work recently. |
